Abstract
Although the different parts of the State had complete homogeneity not only with regard to language but also in the matter of culture, traditions, heritage and social inter-course, there was considerable diversity with regard to the structure of the economy, for purposes of (economic analysis the State has been traditionally divided in to two regions. namely coastal region consisting of the more developed areas in Balasore, Cuttack, Ganjam and Puri districts and inland region comprising of the remaining nine districts.
