Abstract

The Ninth Five-Year Plan (1997-2002) outlines a comprehensive development strategy for Andhra Pradesh with a proposed financial outlay of Rs. 235,200 crores, representing a 48.08% increase over the previous Eighth Plan. The plan prioritizes sectoral growth across agriculture, rural development, energy, transport, social services, and industry, aiming to foster inclusive and sustainable development. Significant allocations include Rs. 505.4 crore for agriculture and allied services to enhance crop yields and support animal husbandry, Rs. 1,922.5 crore for rural development to improve infrastructure, housing, and education, Rs. 5,670 crore for irrigation and flood control projects to boost agricultural productivity, Rs. 4,301.6 crore for energy sector development to support industrial growth, and Rs. 6,460.2 crore for social services with a focus on education and public health.
